The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is one of the largest charitable fraternities in the country. Every dollar raised and every hour volunteered by our members goes directly back into programs that support veterans, students, and families throughout the Danbury area.
Our Programs
Wreaths Across America
Wreaths Across America Day is a day to remember, honor, and teach. During the event, wreaths are laid and the names of the service members are read aloud.
Americanism
The ambition and goal of the Americanism Committee is to quicken the spirit of American patriotism and to stimulate an awareness — a genuine feeling of pride and respect toward patriotism — so that we as Members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will become constant reminders to the people of our Nation that America truly means freedom and that Elks care and Elks share.
Veterans Memorial
A monument in the truest sense, the Elks National Veterans Memorial was built in 1926 to honor Americans whose profound sacrifices for the nation can never be recognized by mere words.
Grants and Scholarships
Each year the Elks National Foundation provides more than $3.65 million in college scholarships to graduating seniors.
Hoop Shoot
The yearly Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Program is open to all boys and girls ages 8 through 13. The contest starts at the lodge level and advances through the district, state and regional contests before the national finals in the spring.
Soccer Shoot
This program is the kind of sporting event to help keep our youth focused and away from undesirable activities.
Drug Awareness Program
The Elks Drug Awareness Program distributes literature and organizes events to make kids and their parents aware of the dangers posed by alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs. Try the program's Drug Awareness quiz and test your knowledge!
Elks National Foundation
Through the Elks National Foundation's Community Investments Program, Lodges can apply for grants to serve their communities, meeting local needs.

Our Committees
Veterans
Since 1917, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has demonstrated its compassion for the veterans of our armed forces through numerous programs and activities. Since 1946, the order has maintained the pledge, "So long as there are Veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never Forget them."
House Committee
The House Committee controls the bar and social quarters of the Lodge. All decisions and actions of the House Committee are subject to the control and direction of the Lodge and its members by discussions and vote at Lodge meetings. The Exalted Ruler is the chairman of the House Committee.
Activities Committee
It is the responsibility of the Exalted Ruler, other Lodge Officers and all the committees to develop and successfully execute a balanced program of Lodge Activities, including social functions, club activities, and community service projects.
P. E. R. Committee
This Association has been organized to unite all of the Past Exalted Rulers of Connecticut in close bonds of fraternal brotherhood, sworn to assist in recommending and maintaining, through collective counseling, the highest degree of leadership possible in their respective districts of Connecticut and in their subordinate Lodges.
Membership Committee
Growing membership is vital to all lodges in the state of CT. This committee helps local lodges gain and keep members!
